I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Layoff in IQVIA?
@iqvia
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Well now they need to sweeten the deal my friend
I would not get spun up about this.
Yeah you'll be fine. It's just branding, most likely you'll fall somewhere between Strategy & Consulting if you currently do any MC, strategy, or tech advisory work or you'll be a part of Technology group if you're coming in with tech skills like Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, etc.
I haven’t seen anything in the re-org that would indicate layoffs incoming. But like other consulting agencies, we are at the whim of the economy, but that’s a whole other topic
The objective is to simplify the structure, we had gotten too many people in overhead roles. We also had created some groups to develop new capabilities that are now needed more broadly so we are integrating the IoT and data engineering and science groups into the rest of the firm.
This simplifies many of our engagements where we have too much overhead bringing the right talent together to make it easy.
I have an offer with Deloitte and the reorg is making me want to start sooner lol
The stock went up today so should be fine
Zero % chance of layoffs. This reorg has nothing to do with lay offs and costs but rather on how we deliver to our clients. What role is your offer for?
Hah, that's what they said at Deloitte when we re-orged. Then the hatchet came swinging a year later.
Country?
United States
run!
They can take your spot
Which practice are you hired into?
CN used to be a part of AS but will now be an entity within Strategy & Consulting
No fear of layoffs. Simple restructuring.
think of it that way, if you join after the layoff you're be safe
I also have an offer at Accenture and am debating, where’s your head at? Want to DM and chat?
I ended up accepting the offer but feel free to DM me with any questions
