I have a toxic coworker who runs to other coworkers and talks poorly about them. Actually, they all talk about each other but since I don’t engage in it I tend to be the main topic of their conversations. These employees are somehow still getting promoted and the top instigator in this is favored because of his/her time with the company. How do y’all deal with this drama and not let it get to you?

In our 121 last we had a good discussion on creating a personal development plan, with the idea being I’d write down clear goals & action points to get from my current level to the next, and I’d provide weekly evidence of it. I prepped the doc accordingly, but instead of wanting to discuss it, he said I have 4 weeks to “turn things around” - without giving any new info on what I’ve done wrong - esp given I wrote my goals based on this same feedback from last week??

Small firm (my boss, me, & a paralegal). After a hearing I did not handle, boss intended to seek review of the ruling in its entirety. What was communicated to me by paralegal was to seek review of a portion.

Seeking review is now time-barred. Boss is not upset, but this is 1 case & 1 problem. There are other cases & other stories.

How do I talk to my boss about being more present (boss is never in office, has “too many” emails, never answers his phone) without being seen as insubordinate?

Boss: I need you to stop challenging me on every decision.

Me: I don’t want us to have a confrontational relationship and I think we can agree something needs to change. When you make stupid decisions, that affects my business and it makes me feel like you’re not up to the job. That makes it harder for my team to do our jobs. I think to be an authentic leader I need to be radically candid with you and point our your mistakes. So are you willing to work with me on this?

Anyone else get frustrated when the partner brags about their billable hour amount for the month? Like congrats, you get to bill .2 for each piece of mail. You also get .2 for every letter your secretary types up as a "form letter" you never even look at. As an Associate, I don't get those easy/automatic hours.

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...

How do I begin reconcile with a former employer who terminated me for no real reason?

My direct supervisor was extremely unsupportive, set unclear expectations, and terminated me after 2 months.

The micromanaging is unbearable. The lack of trust is mind boggling. The constant berating in emails sent to multiple people instead of privately is just asking for trouble. I’m at my wits end and all my AGM can say is suck it up

What would you do? I took sick time for half a day about a month or so ago. Couldn’t clock out appropriately because my keyboard had broken right as I was shutting everything down.
