I ignore most LinkedIn connection requests unless I know the person. With layoffs at my company looming, I'm feeling a little paranoid. Do people actually notice or care? I don't want to accidentally ignore someone important and regret it later in my career.

I've connected with most people sending me requests that work in the same field as me.
Most of the time I get messages from them asking if I know of any available jobs, my field is very niche so this is normal.
I've also recieved multiple job offers through LinkedIn including the job I'm currently in.

If you're asking if people get offended if you ignore their request, I assume some of them do. If you want to play it safe, if you get a request from someone in your company just accept it. I tend to accept them unless I have reason to think the person is a scammer or it's someone I really don't want to associate with.

Just like any platform, people do not get notifications when you ignore their request or delete them.
However, if they are actively looking for you, then they will personally notice it, not because the platform told them.

I always ignore unless I know as well

I add people I know or just leave it in the queue if I don’t recognize them, I’ve added people months later just because we eventually met. LinkedIn is especially useful though, always feel free to message and make connections even if you’re ignored most of the time it only takes one success to matter

I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I recently found out they’re shutting my team down. How hard is it going to be to for me to find a new job? Should I just stay and try things out? What next?

Layoffs. Most big firms say they're sitting on a conservative pile of cash - which I believe is true - but work will obviously not return to pre-COVID levels in the short term, probably not even in the medium term. Are Biglaw layoffs coming?
