The fact that you have the option to even “try and not work for 1-2 years” is a silver lining in itself! Sorry you are experiencing being laid off. On the plus side it sounds like you are more prepared to handle it than most!
You’ll be home with your babies for 1-2 years and can figure out a way to afford it. That is more than silver lining, that’s GOLD.
Jump into being a SAHM with both feet. It won't be easy....we all know mom'ing is the hardest job. But it's also a blessing. Find all the best playgrounds. See if you can splurge on a membership to the zoo or a children's museum, or somewhere that you can take them to explore. I took a reduced role when my kids were little and don't regret it for a second. My 'extra' days with my babies are some of my core memories of motherhood.
So appreciate this POV. Thanks!
You may find there is something fun and creative you can do to keep your brain ticking along during this time maybe make a bit of cash at the same time. You will need to remember that you’re important and have great things to give, just don’t give everything you’ve got to the kids (I had 4 and I should’ve had that advice) keep creativity and goals alive, and you will flourish in these couple years!
I was going to come here and say something similar. You are so fortunate to be able to take that time off. Unfortunately, women who try to go back to the workforce after being away to take care of children tend to get penalized and it can be challenging. I would recommend trying to "keep your brain ticking" also so when you are ready to return you "have something to show" for you time away. That being said, it is unfortunate that companies don't recognize the skills that you really need to be a stay at home mom and how they are beneficial to companies.
They are young and the time goes fast .. take the severance and pto payout ( and unemployment).. you will never see them so young again! And something better will come your way when you want it .. if that is 2 years or 6 months away .. bet on yourself!

Check out the viral clip of actress Robyn Wright talking on a podcast. She was talking about the dilemma of motherhood and a career. It’s on Instagram and you can probably find it if you do some searching.
