I know a lot of sales professionals who are out there making killer commissions, but the reality is endless cold calls, door knocking, and harsh rejection. Some people just aren't built for that pressure. Do you think that anyone could learn to handle it, or is sales just not for everybody?

I can teach anyone sales, from creating a repeatable process, and executing that process with every client, every time… pinning down meeting cadence, and finding the most effective strategies as everyone has a different style and approach… to anxiety making dials, knowing that anxiety goes away in time…

What’s more difficult is preparing them for income variability, which makes it difficult for some to actually give their efforts enough time to create their process, execute and rid themselves of anxiety, especially when they’re not receiving a paycheck…

“Sales” is a broad spectrum of interactions with a prospect/client. It’s likely more helpful to narrow the discussion to particular stages of acquisition.

I think resilience can be developed, but not everyone enjoys the uncertainty and rejection that comes with sales. There is no shame in preferring a different career path.

I am fairly new to LGL (10 months in). I had been practicing criminal law before. I really like LGL because I get to work on something new every day and most of the questions posed to me require creative thinking/solutions. But I do find myself feeling discouraged many days bc there is just so much I don’t know. I understand things will get better and may come easier to me with time and experience. How long did it take for you to feel comfortable and feel like you have a handle on most issues?

If SC doesn't exist, is Manager a good level to target, or is Consultant more like it? Looking for 200k base at a minimum.
Expect my current year TC to be around 200-210k.

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.

And no talks of a promotion / raise..

AWS vs Cloudflare BDR roles

AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.

AWS has prestige but is it worth it?

Lately, I've been hearing a lot from my peers about how sales isn't a real profession.
I work at a tech startup and it mostly comprises developers. They can't stop emphasizing their importance in the food chain and I can't figure if I'm too humble or they're too arrogant.
This yapping comes from people I've known since college. I have successfully blocked all such negativity but wanted to know if anyone here has faced such scenarios.
P.S: I've already accepted an offer above my expectations
