I know these layoffs have a lot to do with the economy and such but who here can also agree that this is also the result of terrible leadership within the industry for yeeeeeeaaaaaaars?

In my 10 years, haven’t met many director level or C-level folks that actually impressed me and made me feel like “wow, you’re so great”.

Tax Senior here. I’m well liked around the office, I put in the hours and work hard, I haven’t had any dumpster fire projects, but I am a mediocre performer compared to my peers (not as strong project management, communication, not as confident). I just got told they’re firing me. Should I expect severance? Have other people been fired for similar? What did you do with your career?

Do you "work" other than transition or KT after you are told you're being laid off? Just curious what level of work I should provide til my last day.

Is it any surprise we’re seeing mass layoff in tech? Years of rich friends hiring rich friends with no work ethic has lead us here. I know way too many tech people who work maybe an hour a day followed by errands and traveling. A lot of getting in these places is who you know, apparently that doesn’t work out like it used to. The amount of people who worked for Meta, Apple, Amazon, etc for a few months / maybe a year is astounding. it’s around that time frame a boss can tell if you’re worth it
