Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

It’s the market. It’s nuts.
Referrals matter, as does how you present yourself. I kept hearing the market is terrible, but of the ~20 roles I applied to, I got 6 interviews and 4 offers within 2.5 months.
Very tought market. Netwoking and referral will likely move the needle.
Yes it’s normal if you are relying on online system alone and the embedded AI to magically pick you out of 100s of other applications
Networking.
My wife is facing the same issue
Hmm.. and some recruiters say market is picking up and companies starting to fight for talent. Wonder what’s going on.
OP what kind of roles and industries you’re applying to?
There are lots of non tech transformations! I notice the roles labeled transformation can be covering everything. Some more strategy leaning, some sound like Chief of Staff, some are PMO, some tech implementations, some merger integrations, and some restructuring and turnaround
Have you run your resume through AI? Did you adapt for each role you applied for? Did you contact recruiter at each position and sell yourself? These details matter. I have replied to maybe 15 ads (no networking at all), adjusted my resume each time to the ATS in the ad, got 4 interviews, still in the process, probably will not accept any offers (I am interviewing them, too!). Next will be targeted networking as I am not sure I want to leave now but considering the climate we all should be prepared to jump.
This is why I tell new hires to be more present in offices. It doesn't impact me one bit if they show up or not but people are really screwing themselves over by staying at home and not making even the slightest effort to network and make friends/acquaintances. I still keep up with people from my very first job 20 years ago. I say this and I can see every young person mentally rolling their eyes thinking I'm just being a boomer.
