I started working in advertising in 2018. Very ambitious, advertising has been my priority on top of proximity to family, friends, having a partner... I worked in 3 countries, none of them my country of origin. I've been to top shops, but never for long because it's been crisis after crisis, whatever the reason. At this point I don't know if I'll get another job, never mind a good one. I just long for a good solid 1-2 year period at a competitive place.

Background: I was talking to a fellow Big Law junior associate (we’re 2nd years) about career goals and progression, we both want to go in-house but realized we don’t know alot about compensation

Planning to take the CIPP and CIPM. Will be doing self-study. What is the “book” everyone refers to for studying? Is it just the “study guide” the IAPP sells? Does anyone know if the study guides and sample questions you can buy on amazon are sufficient to use for passing? Appreciate any and all advice.

I'm two thirds through the PMA Core Certification, and the info is great but the tests are a joke. They need to contract with an educator that specializes in testing and assessment to come in and develop exams that actually measure if you know the material. The bad test design devalues the certification. Not to zero, but I definitely will not be proud to have earned it. It just means I had $1300 and sat through 15 hours of video lectures.

Looking to exit from 195k base to a sales role base 140 + 40 in guaranteed bonus year 1 to make up for the lengthy sales cycle. I know in the long run total comp through equity and sales commission bonus can be much higher but having a hard time making the jump… mostly my ego to drop drastically in TCO the first year after spending all these years trying to increase base.
