I took a new job. They have been open 10 months. I was told the goal was 2 doctors and 1 PA. That was what I started with. Now it is just me in the 3 months since I started. I chart after work. I have voiced my concern that I will be forced to see more patients to support the staff. Supposedly they have founnd a doctor who will start. Can anyone tell me what the likley outcome will be?

Who is your supervising physician? I would worry about that, sounds suspicious. They need at least one to supervise, so where is he or she?

like

The state I work in only requires available for consult by phone. I am happy with the supervision. In Calif. we are trying to decrease the supervision required so jobs can be filled by NP or PA.

I would be worried without a supervising physician. It sounds like they don’t either have funds to hire more staff or are wanting to cut corners by dragging their feet. You should be needing to take on all the load without other staff to see patients

My last job I left because it was obvious someone was signing my charts off when the Supervising Physician retired. I think it was the office manager. This was before California did away with that requirement. I don't cut corners on protecting my liscense. I was "Laid OFF" from that job during covid when we did not have enough patients and they had to pick someone. I quit prescribing narcotics because no one was signing off on 20% of the narcotic prescriptions the DEA still wanted signed off on though California still does not directly counter or endorse the DEA's position. I wrote CAPA about this and they never responded. Sorry venting.

I it is no surprise that this has occurred. Please talk to your supervisor, pick up another job
because it mandatory to keep a second job as a PA-C.

You write like me when I am tired. But I know what you mean.......I am planning to take a day off to send out my resume. I am too tired otherwise. I still have kids to launch so it is such a pickle.

I’m 20yrs into my career. Sounds like they don’t care about you, stop caring about them, lots of jobs out there, don’t burn out.

The likely outcome will be more of the same.

You can suck up all the knowledge and experience you can, or abandon ship after securing a new job.

Why is it recommended you give a company 2 weeks notice when you are leaving but at the same time, when they are laying you off/firing you, they typically do it on the spot. I have known countless people layed off/fired on the spot over the years (especially after busy season) and everyone else when they leave give 2 week notice. Why should we relinquish power to corporations? Corporations really don't care about us. They pretend they do.
