I want to give upward feedback that my manager takes 10x too long to say anything. But I don't want to get fired. So I will just enjoy these extra long calls and meetings instead.

I’ve straight up said on calls ‘so, just to clarify, what’s the key takeaway/action item here? We can keep pontificating for another hour but got a deadline tomorrow so should probably get started’ and similar language. I’m sassy and funny though, so can get away with most of this and much worse stuff. Also have told people that ‘we need to manage our calls better - they tend to meander around rather than being action/decision oriented and think it’s frustrating our client’ after calls where it was clear that they were the ones meandering around

Lmao I just butt in the conversation and go John, what’s your point here can you reiterate the goal? Don’t be afraid to talk to your manager, you can be blunt but still be respectful. Are you an analyst? I also don’t recommend saying pontificating like the guy who was pontificating about above me

Sharing feedback won’t result in getting fired - and you should feel encouraged to share it. If more people were open and willing to share (and receive) feedback it’d be better for all.
