Idk about Florida but Catholic schools around me pay less than half of what public districts pay :/
I’ve taught in Christian schools in Illinois for 40 years. I make less than $25,000 a year. God bless your job search.
As others have said, the standard is that most Christian schools pay significantly less.
A high paying Christian school probably tends to hire teachers who are already established members of the community/congregation.
People don't realize that it isn't even the pay difference it's the fact that you aren't contributing to the retirement system. In Florida the system isn't great, but it's better than nothing.
Good luck with your job search. Most private Christian schools pay far less than public schools. They say it is not a job, but a ministry, and yes, there is often little or no retirement benefits. Add to that your wanting to teach ESE. Many private schools do not have separate programs for ESE, although quite often a lot of those students are gifted and that's why their parents pull them out of public school and put them in private.
