Okay just sharing something that made me happy today.. In a DM convo w a male coworker, he used a winky face (cultural differences, don’t think he meant to make me uncomfortable) I vented about it in my WIT slack at work that it feels icky when older men use 😉, especially in DMs My boss (a woman) reached out privately and asked if she needed to step in and make me more comfortable. I didn’t need it, but knowing she’s got my back was amazing. Women leaders make me feel 😍😌
Have you ever heard of/seen a woman taking her breast out during a zoom call, even if she thinks she “muted” her zoom conference? See Jeffrey Toobin scandal.
I realise this is so insignificant compared to what’s actually happening in the world but catching myself reflected on video during Zoom calls from time to time is really messing with my self esteem 😞
I'm 8 years into my career in the same industry. Years ago I was the person who knew ever answer and was considered very sharp/the company "swiss army knife". Ever since 2020, I feel like I lost part of my brain. I am not longer sharp, I have a hard time grasping new info and I have panic attacks before every zoom call. Is anyone else dealing with this? I don't know if it's because I work from home now or what but i'm paranoid that I will never climb out of this fog. :( Suggestions welcome!
Am I the only one looking forward to returning to the office on at least a part-time basis? By the amount of posts I see about people applying for remote roles or wanting to quit if they have to return to the office it seems like the minority view. I’m tired of talking to a screen all day. Bring on the energy of in-person brainstorms, internal reviews, and presentations to clients who are in the room.
I’m a single parent and mid-level associate, and have been struggling with the increased expectations from pandemic-level work. I do not have the luxury of a full-time nanny, maids or stay-at-home spouses like most of the partners I work with and the expectation that I be available 24/7 (and on zoom) is impossible to keep up with lately. Work was manageable pre-pandemic (and I really enjoyed it) but these new expectations seem unsustainable. Anyone else in the same boat? How are you managing?
Please, no more virtual “happy hours” after 5 p.m. There’s nothin’ happy about it when we’re at home, reaching into our own fridges, forcing conversation on Zoom, and wishing we were outside doing real-life stuff. We’re no longer as desperate for connection; we’re virtually burned out.
Hot take - with zoom, there will never be a snow day again, it will be a Zoom day. I loved snow days growing up - better for kids though... more learning
Does anyone know of the slack’s equity EV will reflect the price salesforce is paying only after acquisition is approved by regulators?
Can I join a Zoom depo midstream?
Just got an invite to a Kellogg zoom in an hour but can’t join - assuming this is good news? Can anyone confirm afterwards?
Thoughts on taking depos off camera via Zoom? I notice a lot of attorneys not appearing on camera lately. I usually do appear on camera while doing questioning. But almost feels easier to not be on camera, even while questioning the deponent.
What happened to WORK (slack)?
My son broke his phone for the 2nd time in 3 months so I told him I'm not replacing it until he earns the money. Seems reasonable and like a natural consequence. But this is undermined by his remote (public) school's assumption that every student has a smart phone. Teachers assign work in mobile-only apps. During tests they require he take the test on the laptop but have a separate phone zoom of him and his surrounding workspace to prevent cheating. ,

Important question! Any strategies for getting out of work zoom happy hours? Other than ignoring requests and not showing up, which has been my MO so far. But it’s getting a bit awkward.
Getting this off my chest!
Not crashing anymore.
How does this sound?
Ah now it did.
When you’re on a weekend emergency call and all 12 people come off mute and try to talk at the same time.
my delta flight was delayed so I rebooked a connecting flight..as a silver I've never gotten upgraded (Thursday..in/out of msp) but delta must've had an IT glitch. best. flight. ever.
That moment when you think I turned down academia so I wouldn't have to spend my life writing proposals.
Living Sunday with no regard for the horrifying Monday morning flight wake up. Worst moment of my week
How will this app generate money?
This week's announcements suck for SPG and AA loyal travelers. 2016: SPG is going away and AAdvantage program is changing for the worst.
Just as you're looking to get promoted, firm does away with performance ratings, and your strategy is in limbo.
The app which needs your linkedin details to find out the "truth" about your company name and still claims to be anonymous. Questionable!
That moment when leaders preach to 'stay connected' and no one cares to reply when you reach out !
Never a good sign when it's the night before and the airline calls to tell you your flight the next afternoon is already delayed.
