Personal mode on my phone beginning at 6:30 at night (unless I have trial the next day) and on weekends. Setting boundaries with clients so they don’t expect immediate responses, especially because even though it may feel like an emergency to them, there is likely nothing I can do after hours for them

As a solo, I can pick and choose clients/cases and I definitely do that with my mental health in mind. It’s not that I want to only work a certain number of hours. I am often prepping for trials and hearings and doing that 24/7 until the case resolves. But I try to limit number of trials each month to 3 by being aware of the status of new potential cases vis a vis the court.
I also totally shut down other clients during trial prep unless it’s a clear emergency. And I’m clear about that if needed.
Family law clients need hand holding. That’s a strong suit for me. But I always do it on my time not theirs
