Really cosign the exit options. Either you work at a firm or you work at an investment bank. Are you a New Yorker for life?

Sorry I didn't see this response when I checked for some reason. I guess neither of those options sound particularly palatable. Best to stay as broadly cap markets as possible, then, doing equity work (including IPOs), public company work, etc.?

Look, I know that good WLB and your interest in the practice area are important but do not ignore their advice. M&A skills are transferrable. General capital markets skills are transferrable. Super-niche skills might not be, and this could come back to bite you at the worst possible moment. What is your current practice area? What don’t you like about it?

First year. We are in a general "corporate" practice and get to choose to specialize as we become more senior.

If your team is looking to add another analyst to “take on workload” but your own workload has been minimal, is this writing on the wall for you to find exit ops?
