I’m really sorry to hear this OP. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. AA is incredibly welcoming and non-confrontational. I’m rooting for you!
The good news is that there’s a way out. You just need to be willing to try.
My entire life sort of went off the rails before I was able to reach out and ask for help. I lost my job, my relationship and most of my friends in the end. It was a painful experience, but it got me sober. 15 years later, I’m doing better than I ever have.
If you’re ready, reach out for help. Not sure where you’re at but I’m sure that collectively the people in this bowl can point you in the right direction.
I went to probably 5 or 6 meetings pre COVID. I never could get myself to participate or even introduce myself to someone after the session. I need to go back and really make the most out of the sessions.
Hopefully your bottom happens before everything falls apart for you. I’m a pretty big wimp so my bottom was pretty high. Hopefully you are the same.
Feeling much better today than this time yesterday. Thanks all for listening and the input
I got that promotion. I’m four days in without a drink and feel good but know my appetite will get hard to ignore soon. Will try AA - thanks everyone here.
Most days I do the bare minimum. Enough to keep my boss and client off my back. Some days I don’t even manage that. I’ve had multiple meltdowns over the past few months and put my fist threw a door, breaking my wrist.
Do you have any recommendations?
Time to find a meeting! It’s a difficult time.
This was me this time last year. I’ve been sober since, after years of trying to get sober on my own. The rehab I went to was in Laguna Beach and I’d recommend it to anyone - I still join their weekly alumni AA meetings. If you want the info, feel free to DM me. I’m so sorry you are struggling - I know those feelings all too well. I am thinking of you.
There’s nothing like your rehab family!
Also please do what works for you. Many people swear by AA and it does work for many. I started in AA and decided to continue my spiritual growth in the church. The key is spiritual growth however you are able to get it. Without it there is no recovery.
Hang in there! Many of us have been in your shoes, try to find a meeting and take it one day at a time.
Have you ever been to AA? There are a plethora of virtual meetings available to fit any schedule.
Also check out the naked mind.

I’ve been staying sane and sober by going to online AA Zoom meetings. Check out this link if you’re interested; I believe if you download the app it’ll tell you what meetings are happening in your area that you can check out or drop in on.

Thanks for link!
I did 90 day intensive outpatient at age 46... never looked back and life is better and better. Check with health insurance and find a program. Or call your doctor and get Antabuse. But do seek professional care before stopping. You might need to safely detox first. My clinic is in DMV area called Kolmac. The situation you are in is not your fault .. it happens over time...but you can change it. And let your partner know you need her support. Sounds like she’s into health and would be great by your side.
And OP you can DM me if you need more info
That what it is all about are you at your bottom? Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? We can help when you are ready.
Hang in there OP. Try to focus on other things or keeping ur self busy. See if you can take a Epsom salt bath to relax you. Pick up a new new video game or even a game from the app store. Alot of gas stations and or smoke shops sell CBD gummies or CBD shots those use to relax me and help me not think about alcohol when I wasn't drinking. You only need to get urself through 1 day of not drinking it slowly gets easier day by day. Wishing you the very best!
Yes CBD will make you feel less anxious and help you get better sleep.
