I’m in my first SDR position, about a month in and we just found out our ramp commissions aren’t full OTE I thought this was standard I could we wrong.. we also have to meet a closed deal quota of minimum 25% of our SQL’s to get paid commissions (we don’t have contact with the prospects after we book the meeting. Any thoughts?

That’s what we call ~incentivizing~ good leads (bs)

That’s pretty much the sentiment of the office. It’s really bringing down the new hires because we didn’t really have that information before we started

It’s interesting for sure. I’ve never dealt with something like this. My last position was commission only selling roofs and spray foam insulation for houses. So this is all very different to me didn’t really think about it until a coworker brought it up.

What’s the best way to transition into tech sales?

I have 3 years of consulting (2.5 at EY, .5 at boutique) in finance and analytics. I’m struggling on looking for roles because I’m afraid I will go down in comp (currently base 105)

I have a total of 4 years sales experience, 1 year in life insurance sales and 3 in retail banking (lending, investment referrals, merchant services referrals).

I did well in banking, but incentive plan has suffered tremendously, so I’m looking to jump into tech sales where I could be more compensated for the work.
