Hi fellow creatives! I’m looking for any and all kinds of creative people to participate in a research study!

I’m a creativity researcher working on my dissertation on the psychology & neuroscience of creativity. I’m interested in understanding how different types of creative careers, side hustles, and artistic outlets relate to our emotions, mental health, & well-being. Ultimately to help build awareness, resources, & improve the lives of creative people.

I’ve been running everything by one coworker who has more of a right to speak on behalf of transgender people. There are always nuances I get wrong and need to adjust, but now I feel like I’m overburdening them, as we keep going back and forth on edits. How do I support elevating transgender voices from my position of privilege, yet without overburdening someone who can vet my work? Despite all the time I’m putting in, I feel like I’m not getting much done.

Based on how you talk about it, I feel like a lot of what you're working on is foundational. I imagine that this information can be taken and learned from and then built upon.
As a non binary person who works in this industry I'd rather people get it right than worry otherwise. God knows I worry way too much about how I'm perceived.
Have you asked your coworker? Is it too much for them, do they have other thoughts? Can you bring in some white cis straight men to learn and try? They will probably fail, but that seems like an outage to make systemic changes. Something I am forcing a conversation in my allyship / equity meetings now. Where are the white cis men? Do you have a DEI council at work?
