I’m working in Europe and my wife is going to Columbia for MBA. My company allows me to do secondment but they are not sure about the visa arrangements. My wife’s J1 visa allows me to get a J2 (aggregated) and ask for a work permit when I land in NYC.
1) Does anyone has experience with this J2 process? How long does it take to get the work permit approved? 2) Are there any easier alternatives to the J2? Thanks in advance

Does your company have a U.S. office? You could get an L1 visa and work for your company.

Also, getting employment authorization card approved takes months - at least 3-4 if not more, and varies based your region in the states. It would be illegal to work while waiting.

From Spain. And I’ve been working for the company for 3 years. So the company can argue I would be eligible for the L1B visa? Thanks again
