Also lol at caring more about money than where you can build a career. It’s almost like the path to partnership isn’t what it was 30 years ago!
The best comment is the “I am petting my briefs and working on your cat” response….
That too. Why does that guy care so much if associates in law firms are in the office or not? I went to the office last week for the first time and was in my office, alone, taking call after call after call. I spent approximately 5 minutes chatting in the hallway with colleagues. Am I really supposed to believe that those 5 minutes are worth all the time I spent getting dressed and commuting and being away from my family so I could sit in my office with the door closed on the phone? GTFO.

For those who didn’t get to see the post before the recruiter deleted it: it was essentially an exchange between partners at Mayer Brown, Locke Lord, and maybe another firm, along with an in-house counsel and an associate at Kirkland (all of which were in Texas offices — Houston in particular, I think) saying that associates are entitled, working 2300-2700 hours is normal, everyone should be back in the office ASAP, and associates aren’t committed to their careers and instead obsessed with money.
Avoid these firms at all costs.

There’s some guy in the litigation and arbitration bowl right now suggesting that associates who don’t want to bill 2400/year simply don’t want to do a full day’s work. Lol.
Kim kardashian?
Lol I saw that post earlier and it’s the same Kirkland Houston associate who wrote paragraphs on TLS defending Andy Calder…
Maybe she's Andy's burner account 😂
that LinkedIn post needed a trigger warning
Yea, audibly said “what?!” to a couple of comments lol. Very confused why that GC cared THAT much about working from home.

That associate is my nightmare

Just read that post on TLS lmao. She should make share partner for her boot-licking alone.

On what planet is 2700 hours, 50 per week? No holidays? No vacations? No non-billable time? Gimme a break.
I summered at K&E Houston and declined my offer. That place is a dumpster fire. I have friends at K&E NY and Chicago, which are both infinitely better than the Houston office according to friends that have transferred offices. There’s a reason K&E Houston gives such high signing bonuses.

That thread should be titled “how to show I don’t get what’s happening in the legal industry for which I recruit without saying it”
Cut Anne a break. KE and others in that market are a huge part of her clients. Don't want to piss them off. I thought she was tastefully pushing back.
Well. I just accepted an offer to go there.

Did this post end up getting removed? I was looking at it yesterday but now I’m having trouble finding it.
Coach
Yeah the recruiter deleted it
I mean also what is so dumb is that these are all things you ask a recruiter to determine whether or not or you want to be submitted to a firm. You don’t ask the partner at the interview.

How can I find this LinkedIn post?

Look at my post above
I’m at MB and we can see average monthly hours by office/practice/position. The avg hours are much lower than 2300-2700 so that range is definitely not normal even at his firm.
Someone just DMed me about where u can see it and I accidentally lost the msg. Yes it is @ globalnet-lawdrill menu

Sorry missed that! Thanks so much
I have billed 2,200 to 2,400 every year for the past 7 years. This year is going to be lower due to financial market conditions . It is true that you should expect to work more than 2,000 hours a year in big law. 2,700 is brutal but would say if you want to progress you need to hit good hours.
