Unlimited PTO = Zero PTO
It's a trap.
AND if you quit they pay out no vacation accrued.
Also, studies have shown that when given unlimited pto, low performing employees tend to take more days than high performing employees. So itโs an easy way to classify employees - at least narrow down the number of employees you need to look at closely
Itโs the worst. Someone is still counting how many days you take (and probably factoring it into your overall billable hours/day rate, so higher quality of life means first to be laid off), AND if your boss doesnโt take many days off, you wonโt be approved to either.
๐๐ผ๐๐ผwhat everyone else said. I took WAY fewer days when I had unlimited than I have when I had a set amount. When you have a set limit, no one gives you shit for making the most of your PTO days
The real con is that companies have convinced employees that this is a good thing for them
I worked at Deutsch (another IPG brand) and the did this a couple years ago. โUnlimitedโ PTO was a joke. They paid us all out for our accrued vacay, then they never had to pay for it again. Oh and if you took โtoo muchโ โunlimitedโ โPTOโ youโd get a talking to. Basically what everyone else said above. Itโs a cost cutting scam that they sugar coat by telling you itโs โunlimitedโ. Itโs not. And unless youโre really diligent about taking enough vacay, youโll most likely take less time off, not more

Take the same number of days you had before they made the announcement. No more, no less.
Oh crap! Is this going to spread to all the IPG companies?
It's really a bad thing. I was very unhappy to hear it.
What everyone else said above. I wasnโt too pleased about it.
I think it is
Explain
Wow Americans are so cynical, this is a good thing in other parts of the world.
Sorry
Ugh
Thatโs not a good thing
It's like the open office of policies. It's a good idea in theory but ends up rewarding the slackers and makes the hard working folks bitter af
