Absolutely possible, additional schooling might not be truly necessary with your stem degree.

Solid data science projects are essential, and they are at Deloitte. Different projects will exercise different skillsets - the cloud or ML ops side, basic applications of data science, others building products, or full r&d and prototyping. You may not know enough about the field to be targeted, but at least avoid stuff that's basic ETL and dashboarding, ~unless~ you do want to target biz intelligence/analytics work, and there are plenty of those jobs in tech too. Then when you know enough, dive into projects that build upon key skills you want to target.

Outside of projects and when interview prepping you can do online courses to cover the theoretical gaps.

I'm a GPS consultant with a FAANG data science (machine learning) offer, which I'll likely accept after 3 ish years at Deloitte.

You need a really solid math and stats background. Likely will need a masters or PhD in stats to get a true data scientist role

like

Stats advanced degree as a bare minimum? Yeah that’s not going to be required. That’s old school to say the least.

like

Masters in data science typically a one year degree. Worth a shot to go for the roles now and look for engagements for experience or go get a degree if that’s definitely the space for you. Network your way onto data science engagements if you’re not already on them.

Does anyone have any advice for a recent masters graduate looking to move into product marketing? My professional experience is mostly in brand, social and event marketing, but after completing grad school, I’ve realized that I’d love to get into the product side of things. Hi all, negotiating with HR on salary for a new AS position and want to know what’s fair. I was an AE for two years, took a promotion at another agency for SAE for only 8 months and am now being recruited for AS at 80k. All of my agencies have been large, I’ve worked on pharma and a large global account, I also started “managing” at the AE level due to my team’s structure. Is $80k fair? Thanks!

I'm not sure of where to go after that, but I doubt I will stick with recruiting or my current firm.

I was just talking to a younger friend who goes to Cal and It seems like the kids these days hate FAANG or at least Amazon and Facebook are not desired at all. I personally don’t see too many issues working at either Amazon or Facebook because I work at Deloitte where I’m sure we have many questionable clients and worked in financial services before. Curious on whether people are thinking about the ethics of their exit company when deciding to move?

I just hit my lean fire number but am hesitating to pull the trigger, so was hoping to run it by people smarter than me:

- I have a few rentals that bring in ~$1800/mo cash flow, taxes are negligible, Capex incl.
- My paper assets will bring in ~$1200/mo at 3% draw
- I get free Healthcare at the VA
- No plans on kids
- My expenses haven't topped $30k/yr ever
- I could always reenter the workforce if needed (albeit probably not in consulting)

Please point out the flaws here, what am I missing?
