It was always just filling out checklists
I’m the opposite I’m sick of the dinners and switched to a different dept so I can be fully remote
To each their own
Get a hobby lol. I do a lot more things for my personal happiness outside of work hours now.
Have hobbies but still your going to spend majority of your time at work, would like some more joy from it
I think the clients realized without all the meals and travel they could argue for less fees (or pay less incremental fees at least) and decided that was much more preferable. I tend to agree because I have my own life I want to spend more time in, and less traveling / shmoozing
Ew no, I don't want to be in an audit closet again with nothing but my laptop. Sure dinners can be fun, but you don't need to work in the office or at the client site all day to do that.
Covid killed communication skills in humans really and ability to integrate with environment as freely as before. Even though we might still do those activities, it’s never the same at least in my circles due to enhanced precautionary measures engrained in our brains
Sadly, this does not only apply to work and audit…
It's not just you. I remember when I was a staff auditor, and the seniors always told us not to just do desk audits but to get out there and talk to people in person. Now, they seem to be the expectation. It's probably going to take a few big failures that are blamed on audit before we get back to site visits.
True audits are so inefficient this way, clients destroying timelines
Depends on your niche and firm. I’m still out at clients far more than I’d like to be out.
Audits been dead for over a decade. You’re just watching trace gases escape from its corpse at this point
I feel the same about tax but I think it’s also worse at certain firms
We’re still pretty regularly out at client sites.
It really just depends on your client base, I have been all other the place auditing here in the Washington DC area
