Larsen & Toubro Infotech Hello Everyone I want to know the work life balance in LTI. I've heard that the culture is like BPO you've to spend 9 hours in the office even if your work is completed. They are very much strict about timings. If you're login time is 10 it should be 10 if you login at 10:15 you need manager approval. The projects are also of supports? I'm selected as Java developer in Lymbyc(LYM) Bu. Please it would be really helpful if you guys give me some insight especially Larsen & Toubro Infotech L&T Techn

I recently joined nagarro.... was on bench for almost a month as I was not getting project as per my skill set. Recently got one project as per my skillset and cleared client interview also.
But during the time, I was also looking outside for good opportunity, I have one with same package from a product based organization.
What should I do now ? If I resign , would Nagarro release me early or I will have to serve complete notice period?

I know so many coworkers who are content with being an IC forever. Honestly there is something to be said about enjoying your life vs fighting for the top
It’s a wise decision. You earn well, you manage your time, you know how to be successful at what you do, your life is balanced. Why would go go upstairs for more grief, more pressure, probably to give more time, and an ill-balanced life?
Probably i should learn this from you. Every time i bring up the topic of promotion, The answer i get is in similar line. You are an excellent IC, and any one would love to have you in the team. But to be on next level, you need more than that.
Not a Dev, but a support guy.

From a sheer numbers perspective it's highly likely that you'll stay an IC. Even within the pool of people who fancy a leadership role, very few will get the opportunity.
I've never felt pressured into wanting a leadership role in 20+ years of working.
Yeah it totally is. I came to that conclusion recently myself, and the only caveat is that you might not be able to be completely candid about that desire always with coworkers and leaders. They often want to hear that you want to move up the latter. Salary bands are lower, But you can make a good living and just be an IC forever. Nothing wrong with that.
Nothing wrong with that. American work culture likes to define people by their work, but that doesn't have to be the case. If you find this fits well with your lifestyle and life priorities, and you can make it work for you, then all the more power to you. In fact, you might find that you'll be more content in your life, which is great. Most people would find it enviable to be able to find that contentment.
And just because you're an IC doesn't mean you can't still do good and impactful work.
Yes, peace of mind comes before all else. Once you get into management it is more time in meetings than doing hands on work. Also Middle Management get laid off first
Leadership positions have expectations on how you will lead. As an IC you can lead and mentor within your team. I prefer to stay hands on with technology and pass on "management" positions.
IC is good because if you get laid off you can always get contract work easily.
"If I may be so bold, it was a mistake for you to accept promotion. Commanding a starship is your first, best destiny. Anything else is a waste of material." - Spock, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
I always think about this quote every time I think about getting into management.
My husband the Sr. Software Developer says all managers do is deal with Other People's Problems. He is heartily in favor of staying an IC forever.
