Is it possible to enter another big 4 firm as a senior manager and be successful? Will they help you build your network and book of business? Or easier to take a step/title lower and start as manager?

The way things are going, I wouldn’t be concerned going in as SM. Just make sure the people you talk to actually believe there is a business case to add you now.

When you say the way things are going… What do you mean?

Hey all, I’ve recently joined EY consulting from another Big 4 and have noticed there’s no discipline (at least in my team) around codes and charging time. People either charge a standard 7 hrs or some will charge time spent on internal activities to their client code.

I was told that “the last person to charge their actual hours worked was promptly booted off the project”.
Just wondering:
1) Is this a general cultural point accross all Consulting teams? Will challengin this get me in trouble?

Or should I stay in Audit and wait for B4 Forensics positions to open up? Please let me know your thoughts!

So I’m in industry from big 4, and a colleague with same yoe comes from MBB. High paying tech firm. I think I work harder and produce quality content at speed, but they can hold executive conversations that tend to impress senior stakeholders.

Big 4 produces work horses and MBB produces leaders. Also they could be a work horse too since I don’t have full visibility.

Anyone have similar experiences or do I just suck at executive stakeholder management?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.

Considering the advisory role 1) job security, 2) exit ops, 3) partnership ops. Anyone recently make a similar jump and could share?
