In the US, at most firms, MDs are employees and thus cannot be forced to leave based on age alone, that would be discrimination.
Keep in mind that MD means different things at different firms. For some it’s an executive level employee, for others it’s a senior partner. Deloitte, EY, etc MD is a W2 employee - just highly paid. Typically similarish metrics to PP.
Like any other employee, you can stay as long as you meet expectations at your level / pay grade and those expectations increase over time. There is no mandatory retirement age.
MDs, like Partners, can stay until their mandatory retirement age - so long as they keep making their numbers. If you don't make your numbers, any executive might be asked to find other opportunities.
