If it’s positive it’s accurate, if it’s not positive it could be inaccurate. When I tested positive on a rapid test back in November, I was told doing the PCR wasn’t necessary as positive results are accurate, if the result is negative but your symptoms are still indicating you have Covid, they recommend the longer test.
Rapid testing is only effective when one is already showing/experiencing symptoms. Otherwise, it is about 50% or so inaccurate (maybe a bit less) but still yields an alarming high number of inaccurate results whether they are false positives or false negatives. Although, more false positives were reported but false negatives are not uncommon either. Good luck OP!
