It gets me laid every time I bring it out!
Is your left hand harder to impress?
I make international travel at least once every year. Having access to lounges in many cities makes travel a little less painful. $200 Uber credit + $100 Saks + $240 digital entertainment (I go for Hulu and HBOMax) + lounge entries (my spouse is an Authorized User) should be able to cover $695 fee 2nd year onwards. They also give you retention offers if you reach out and ask for one. Hope this helps

Yes. Clankkkkk

Year 1- absolutely; year 2+ depends on how you value credits
No - save money and invest it. Don’t spend money on dumb stuff to get points

D1 is the kind of person that thinks if we stopping buying coffee, we will be FIRE
Very dumb takes above. I just booked a vacation for two to Europe using points I earned on my amex plat. Would have cost over $20K to book with cash.
No I made super high value redemptions. Spend about 450k points

If you make full use of the benefits, sure. If you're like me and don't use enough of them, then no.
Thanks, would you guys say the chase sapphire is better?

I was genuinely looking at Venture X but the lack of lounges made me go Amex. Venture has better day to day points tho
I used to travel a lot so it totally worth it, I am still keeping it since the Uber and equinox credit kinda net down the cost quite a bit, but everyone is different (equinox is only in some big cities, and a lot of people never used ubereats) so do your own analysis
Just keep it for a year, cancel, rinse and repeat
Yeah amex is pretty funny you can sign up for the same card and still get the bonus as long as it's a different product 🤣 not to mention you can double/triple up if you get targeted for the NLL offers (eg. Biz Plat, biz gold)
If all else fails and you can't get the sign up bonus just sign up in December to triple dip the annual credits (airline credit, Dell credit, etc) and it will still be worth it lol

Get the ventureX. Much better
Not imo. Credit card fees are going up in general for merchants and I’m finding more businesses are refusing Amex. If you travel internationally, definitely not.
If you are are a weekly traveler with Delta, yes; otherwise, probably not.
I can give you my referral link for 100k bonus points. I think it is worth it if you make use of all the benefits. At least it is worthwhile the first year
^^ I misread it. Yeah that’s a better offer. Also see if you qualify for more at https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/check-for-offers/
Yes! I pay $695 to drink two mimosas on the AMEX lounge, and that’s the American dream.
As just a lowly associate I don’t have one but I aspire to one day, it’s a flex lol

Yes but depends on how you take advantage of the benefits.
$200 Uber + $200 Hotel Credits (booked through AMEX Travel so I got another $100 resort credit that I used) + $240 Disney Bundle + $189 Clear. That's over $900. This is all money I would have spent with or without the card...so yea makes it worth it for me.
You won’t need to get CLEAR every year though
