It's easy to feel like this is a thankless job sometimes. What helps you all stay the course and stay true to your purpose?

I look at all the other topics people work on - tax, transfer pricing, due diligence, tech, audit, you name it - and I can’t think of anything as interesting and important as the topic we work on

like

That's very true! Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I always want to feel satisfied knowing that I did my part, regardless of the outcome, which I do not control.

like

I may not be able to change the world but I can make a difference.

like

But don't you wish the difference you're making was more recognized and appreciated? At least, I struggle with that.

My job gives me little fulfillment outside of interacting with and developing people. I stay for the pay check. That at least helps me put money where I do feel there is real impact. Sustainability work, in businesses anyway, tends to be so focused on reporting that very little impact for reducing emissions, or making real change beyond just carbon, is made. At this point, my purpose is raising a solid human so I focus on that.

SS1 I have just accepted that we are doomed and doing what I can to have a little joy each day if I can. It’s sort of like playing sports and your team is losing by a landslide but still playing full out because you love the game or just have an inner drive to always do your best. AI was the final nail in the coffin most likely but so many other things on top of that. We are on the Titanic friend.

Has anyone found a way to automate salary certifications?

We get about 3-5 requests daily to fill out salary certifications for our employees in EMEA.

At the moment, we have to do all of them manually. We open a pdf, then open their employee file and plug away. It's tedious and time-consuming, but the banks I found won't accept an internal salary certification for some reason. They're adamant about using their form. Has anyone come across this?
