How do you for sure if big 4 is not for you?
Deloitte audit Vs. Grant Thornton Tax. I have an offer from Grant Thornton and From Deloitte as an Intern this summer. Deloitte is the bigger name and pays a bit better but Grant Thronton has way nicer people and known to have a way better cultre and work environment. What should I do? My kids were 8 when I started. I don’t know that I would have been as successful if they had been a lot younger. I was away from them a lot, and during busy season would only see them when I took them to school in the morning.
And mom of 4 is ALOT by itself… tough decision for sure
Chances are high you burn out and fail your kids. I have 2 kids six years in and it’s ALOT even though my wife stays at home.
I’ve worked this whole weekend and was only around for dinner twice this whole weekend.
I would suggest going to a bigger company for a raise - stay out of PA. Your fam is too valuable.
Public accounting is one of the most flexible careers there are. I started when my oldest was 10 months and had 2 more kids. It was really hard, but so valuable to my career and my husband was supportive. I stayed almost 7 years before I started my own company. If you can get started and wow them (don't burn out but do really good work) they'll more than likely let you go on a reduced schedule if that's what you need.
I’m a mom of 5 and am leaving Big 4. Even the PPMDs are recommending smaller firms because the money and growth is significantly better. PE firms are eating them up. Big 4 is not doing well, honestly.
