Adhd is an excuse
MCEM1- this is just truly sad
Make a checklist of things (i.e. grammar, spelling, page numbers, etc.) to check. Use this list before submitting anything. Also, take breaks. Sometimes looking at something too long makes it difficult to identity obvious mistakes.
ADHD consultant here 👋🏼
I’ve found the following help me with my attention to detail:
-QA checklists
-peer review
-reading things out loud
-aiming to only do work that interests me so I know I’ll be more likely to hyper focus on it
-a crippling fear of getting in trouble/ yelled at
You take any drugs to help?
Yes… I don’t have ADHD but have gotten feedback on my lack of attention to detail. Is that something that you can improve by being more intentional about it? Can you have someone review your work? Maybe multiple QCs?
Over the longer period you may want to evaluate your strengths and target those paths. Maybe you’re a big picture creative thinker who’s great at coming up with new ideas (creative marketing). Maybe you’re good with people, relationships (sales/BD). What are you good at and what do you enjoy doing?
Medication
Grammarly premium helps me with sOme attention to detail- I have ADHD too and just got diagnosed after receiving similar feedback. Also try to give yourself more time to review project deliverables. I am medicated now and I find I can focus much better as well. Good luck!
