Interviewed at Deloitte, PwC and EY for Advisory Senior Consultant role. Deloitte offered $105K (plus $5K bonus), PWC offered $127K (plus $15K bonus) and EY offered $155K (plus $10K bonus). Surprised with the difference in pay between Deloitte & EY for same role. Is Deloitte Advisory paying less compared to other firms? 4.5YOE in Consulting.

Take couple of days off from everything. Try to come to peace with it. Nothing was your fault. Truth Is we are mostly just a number for our companies. Update your resume, and refresh your LinkedIn and connections. You will find a great role before you know it. The very same thing happened to me few years ago (100% + utilization, great reviews,...). I know it's hard for you to see it right now, but looking back it was one the best things that has happened to my career.
Thanks Manager1
OP: I was laid off exactly the same way from Advisory in PwC in October despite good snapshots and good ratings. Was my milestone year too. First - finish all the exit formalities that include phone, laptop, badge, if you are on H1 then immigration formalities, experience letter as well as other important papers needed. Back up the contacts list if you want to keep in touch with some ‘nice’ ppl in firm. Secondly, take a break for a week or 2 and start circulating your resume in job portals, career sites, linkedin. Start applying and brush up your resume. You have PwC on resume and you will find something very soon. Good luck
Senior consultant thanks for the breakdown of actual activities
What was your title at PwC? How many years were you there? Sorry to hear, but as others mentioned, you'll land on your feet soon -- i was also a former PwC "layoff" . Don't rush to decide on your next step, but I'm sure another big4 (if that's the route you want to take) will bring you in in short order. You have several opps in this thread alone.
Sorry to hear. High hopes that you’ll land in a better position that this one; try to keep your mental health in check during this time and know that it wasn’t your doing. You’ll bounce back and you should let us know when you do because we’ll be waiting to congratulate you.
Just believe that something amazing is about to happen, a new opportunity waiting to reach you! Stay positive! Let me know if you need a referral.
Sorry to hear that. Have heard a lot of rumors about Advisory and not sure what to believe. The culture is not what it was and should be. Sending positive energy
Also, If you can, make sure you have made copies of your snapshots and feedback.l
Sorry OP. Rooting for you!
OP, I went through the same thing at PwC. I can assure you that it's not you, it's them. I know a handful of people in my current department alone who had this happen to them at PwC as well - none of whom I'd consider a "low performer".
Also, they will zero out your PTO and won't pay you for it unless you call their help line, then you'll have to wait 2 or 3 more weeks to get it. They said this was a "defect" in their systems but it seems like an awfully convenient one 🤔
they paid my PTO out just an FYI.
@PwC 15, i never said employers should be “required” to keep employees. I am only saying that if someone is unfairly terminated, they should fight back - for the sake of their fundamental rights in a free country. And to prevent companies from acting irresponsibly.
Are you saying that everyone should be a “yes man” and anyone you terminate should accept and walk away smiling, for fear of retribution?
I’m not going to answer whether I am European - let’s just say I follow ideals that make logical sense and promote a free and fair environment, and there are checks in place for irrational behavior.
I don’t know the circumstances of your lay-off, but if it was unfair, shame on you for not taking action! What is even worse is that you hold these dysfunctional views and have become a director. Unfortunately life is unfair!
Nothing about the situation sounds unfair considering the adjustment to revenue is constant and you did not mention any instance of harassment etc...I would focus on positively using the experience to move forward to the next opportunity.
M1. How long did it take you to find a job? And did you have to explain why you got laid off?

It is not doing badly, I think pwc just has a poor workday team. All other firms are killing it
Happened to me at another firm right after promotion. Sucks man I agree with others - go hit a beach somewhere for a few days.
Why is PwC always laying people off. Since I started consulting 6 years ago, I’ve noticed that PWC has always laid off more people then any other firm. Really ridiculous
You are likely to be facing differential treatment - this entitles you to put the company on notice until you decide what to do. Drop a burner at kylejemill@yahoo.com if you are interested. Happy to share details of my experiences. Up to you though
Great
Lots of PwC folks getting that call. Not sure what’s going on but doesn’t seem great for the firm
