New to Fishbowl?
unlock all discussions on Fishbowl.

2% is A LOT especially since the layoffs are affecting the younger workers who tend to make up the bulk of Fishbowl users. Try to have empathy.
Yes, January. Look to past layoffs for guidance. The firm is still overstaffed, even for busy season.
It was 4%
There will be more layoffs in January.
Sorry, don't not mean to frighten you, but this is typically how it's done. I would guess the other firms will see layoffs in January too, or at least by the end of 1st quarter. EY has no class in that they do layoffs in December, fuck up your holiday and make those still employed concerned about their jobs (as they should be). There's worse things than two months severance and unemployment, though. It will all be ok.
Central is firing for sure
"Those of you who are still left"? Lol I'm pretty sure the layoffs to date made up less than 2% of EY employees
Thanks for the information, EY 2. Has anyone heard anything about tax? The focus seems to just be on assurance.
Tax already had a bunch of layoffs across the board. I've heard the layoffs are done, but rumor states otherwise. Just heard kpmg laid off 10 partners and others across all levels in the southwest region. Don't know how valid that is
@EY 3 January?! In the middle of busy season for all service lines? Some projects would be screwed if they are missing a single staff.
@EY 3 Thanks for the information. I'll now continue to have a panic attack every time I receive an email until the month of February.
Tax too?
43/1200 in the southeast region, 3.6%
Where is everyone getting these percentages? I haven't heard of any in my central region office at least in audit and tax.
@EY 5 I don't think central has made the move yet? At least in southeast region it has been all over the place
I am in NY and don't know a single person who has been recently fired
