Yes if you left earlier. They will send to collections if you don't pay in time. That's why I left my previous firm 3 days after the cut-off date lol
Or you could just abide by the contract that you signed 🤷🏼♂️

EY is huge. There’s a lot of red tape when it comes to payback process in general since it’s attached to how the firms claim tax on it.
Normal for EY. Payroll is a bit slow there.
I don't think this is a "debt" that can be stuck onto your credit report, and as such, even if they "send you to collections" - a secret if collections is, there are LOTS of bills those firms try to collect on, where they have absolutely no teeth. All they can do is send you letters and call you and vaguely threaten action but there may be no action at all. And you have a right to demand they stop contacting you.
EY could sue you, but, will they? Anyone have first-hand knowledge?
I'd wait it out, drag it out forever, and Google the law, and Google the credit reporting rules, and be real real real sure you are in a checkmate position and be sure they can actually harm your credit, before shelling money out. I don't think they can.
There may be other considerations like future references, I dunno. But I don't think ey hr would disclose this?
Btw if you just want it to go away, possibly offer a settlement in part. If you wait long enough there's probably a compromise that you'll get.
I would wait for them to follow up at least once before i would pay it...
Of course... just do the right thing
