Manager 🐠, would you be upset if your analyst reached out to another team about their interest in an open role on that team? I’m in industry and not sure if this could burn bridges?

Don’t hold back in your ambitions because of a fear people might be upset. If your manager cared about your development, they’d find ways for you to grow in your current role so you wouldn’t feel compelled to explore other opportunities. Or at the very least, initiate that convo with you to make it clear they are thinking about your growth.

Way back, I did this, but told my manager too.

Pretty sure he nixed the whole thing in the background.

Because they didn’t want me to leave their team. In the end, it actually ended up being for the best, and got me promoted faster. Was definitely a high risk play though.

I’ve been in my current role for 1.5 years if that matters

Not at all.

I explicitly encourage my team to look for ways to grow their career, either on my team or elsewhere, even outside the firm if they find something good.

Of course I want them to stay on my team if they're a good performer, but if I can't find a way for them to grow on my team in a way that will benefit them, I'll even keep an ear out for any growth opportunities I find elsewhere in the firm.

No. As a manager my goal for each staff member is to get them to where they would like to be...within the confines of my ability. I have had a couple jr staffs ask me if they could do more cyber. So after a year on my project I helped them find cyber work.

Hello people of San Diego! Would love to hear how y’all are affording to live here comfortably. Please state your company, position, TC, YOE, and do you have a side hustle? I’ll start - I’m an advisor in Wealth Management with TC of $70k, 3 YOE and no side hustle. Among other things, rent just jumped from $2500 to $3700 for 2 bedroom and areas were looking at. I’d like to “make it” here but if it means switching career to make money I’d like to get an idea to make the right job change.

Currently our marketing team is of one (me) and we outsource quite a bit of other tasks as we continue to grow. With that said, one of the tasks I am currently involved with is creating weekly emails from scratch and I am pretty darn good at them. Yet so many people (several in different teams) have requested to review my work before it’s sent. It’s unnecessary and makes the job less efficient. How can I politely and professionally decline their request?

A good friend of mine graduated from Parsons this past summer, has degrees in Journalism and French, is a talented photographer and designer (which I feel I have a pretty decent eye for after working at a design-driven branding agency for half a decade). And I’m certain she’d make a fabulous junior AD or content strategist. Unfortunately she, like many in this pandemic, is still without a job. Any advice for her and/or shops/hiring managers/non-traditional job hunt tips to steer her towards?

Now They have sent a mail that your Candidature is on hold. Is this happened with anyone else also.

Please do suggest on this guys.

I have 7 plus experience in c++. I am trying new job within Chennai location but I am getting 1 or 2 interview calls for a month. I know c++ is old language and openings are very less and competitor people also less.
Shall learn new courses like AWS... its totally different from my experience I am not sure it will help to my career.

Could you please suggest shall I continue with c++ or shall I go with other platforms. Since I am getting very low package.

What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k
