In my experiences, management has previously been a server or a team lead, so they know exactly what the job entails. I'm sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same. It's a shame to feel scrutinized, especially in a tough situation, like an interview. I do think involving team leads is a good idea, though!

Managers can sometimes get too caught up in the scrutiny, making it more about their own judgment than actually understanding how a team member will fit. It’s supposed to be a conversation, not an interrogation. Team leaders, on the other hand, know the vibe and dynamics better and can ask questions that actually relate to how you’ll contribute. It shouldn’t be all about the pressure!
