You need associates because you need them to become seniors, managers, etc. We've been working with India for years in tax and are trying to automate those jobs with robots now. So even India is slowly becoming obsolete

The job of an associate is now to be coached how to train someone in a delivery center capacity how to test and also learn how the business works from client and internal side

like

IT is just the tip of the iceberg...

All big4 firms are moving toward utilizing service delivery centers and have been for years now. It is supposed to help us non remote people add more value to the client. India and other places will do the actual tedious audit work while we can utilize the time to understand the client and where their needs are

Why should an associate “audit monkey”be paid 60 grand when someone in India can be paid much less and do the exact same shit? Our firms are businesses

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
