Disagree, that commute is so, so hard with the traffic. I live in SF and if you go during rush hour it'll take you 90 minutes each way. And rush hour is almost all the time. I would live cheaply in the South Bay (Sunnyvale isn't bad), and then Airbnb in SF on the weekends. It's not ideal, but the commute is not really sustainable if you work normal hours.
Do not live outside of SF! You'll hate your existence because there's nothing going on elsewhere. Find a cheaperish place in SF and commute. Most do that
Ah, thanks for both opinions! Outside of SF, is there a condo/area that you recommend? After having experienced the commute for 2 days, I realised I'm ok with not being in downtown if I don't have to deal with that.
By outside of SF do you mean not downtown? Or like South Bay/East Bay?
San Jose is really boring if you're not in hs
Stay in the South Bay - hillsborough , San Mateo, foster city, woodside. Mountain view is fine but a bit quite. Los altos hills is pleasant.
*quiet
Haha my parents live in los altos hills. You really do not want to live there unless you're married and have kids. Stay away from Palo Alto, its way too expensive since you're paying for the schools. If you're in mountain view at least there are other young ish folks there from google and stuff.
I worked in PA and occasionally SF for a couple of years and lived in EPA. I LOVED it, rent control, cool vibe, minutes from downtown PA and the caltrain is a quick ride into SF. You might enjoy the nightlife in the city, but you'll want to take an acid bath everyday you have to make the 1.5hour+ commute to and from the city in gridlocked traffic. I suggest looking into the woodland apartments behind the Four Seasons off 101
Ok, I'll check it out- thanks all!
