My gf works for the federal government and makes the same money with about 1/3 of the hours. It’s frustrating, but for me it’s made me look for better balance in future roles instead of resenting her success
Yeah I can also say OP that if you work for the state this is probably true as well.
You guys are weird. Stay in your lane and be happy for your partner, as that’s also your success.
This mofo is killing it in oil and gas rn?!? 🤯
There will always be people who work less making more money. Look at some of the social media influencers for example. Do the best you can for YOU, and stop worrying about what other people make.
Welcome to the world of working women. The ERA was never passed !
I have been feeling this was x10 and it’s so magnified while working at home because I really see the difference in the hours I work/day compared to the hours he does. To me it seems like he’s basically on a work from home vacation (working out at any hour, constant video games, drinks at 4) while I’m expected to be online and working more than ever! He’s an engineer and I’m an attorney so a bit different from you but still, I commiserate.

Public accounting is designed to thrash you for all your worth for minus pay. They tell you that your making a lot, and how you have excellent growth opportunities... but it’s a pack of lies. Even the job security side isn’t that great at times. I’m doing my best to transition to a developer role, so I can leave the carrot dangled in front of the treadmill behind.
Use the jealousy as motivation to do better for yourself. You should feel happy for everyone's successes, just as you want everyone else to be happy for yours. Dont you want to see your boyfriend succeed?

It is easier to make a ton of money in some careers than others. It is also important to find a team or job that values your contribution and shares the success. I think Big4 / professional services tends to view their staff as being replaceable
What field is your SO in? It sounds like some type of sales based on your other comment
This. Is. Everything. Thanks.

Be happy that he’s successful and kickin ass. Then maybe you won’t feel so bad when you want to start a family and stay at home with the kids and can enjoy without feeling guilty. 😊
Why would you assume that’s what OP wants...?

What does he do
Maybe see if he’s down to pick up more expenses since he’s making so much more money. You benefit too. You’re less stressed. And that’s a benefit for him.

Does he tell you that he is appreciative of you and the hard work that you are putting into your own job? Does he support your hard work and success, even if it is different than his own?
Are you personally doing well and just not receiving a lot of feedback, or do you feel like you are not doing well at all?
Do you make conscious time to not talk about work stuff?
