I’m new here. Can I please get some likes 😩
What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.
Cushman & Wakefield Interested in a Sales Associate position at Cushman & Wakefield. I have experience as a government analyst for 7 years but nothing related to commercial real estate. I want to become a more competitive applicant but not sure where to start. Are there any certificates, skills, or knowledge that I should be learning in my free time?

I did a 3 hour round trip commute for 4 years. It wasn't ideal but I did a ton of learning programs & listened to audiobooks to help maximize the time. Take the "me time" to catch up on your interests, learn a language, or brush up on something that will make you a more standout candidate when you do find another job.
That’s such a tough spot to be in. 55 miles is no joke for a daily commute. Have you tried talking to your manager about remote or hybrid options? Maybe carpooling could help cut costs in the short term while you look for something closer. i think you just to weigh all the pros and cons here. But I would definitely try to negotiate something.
Even with hybrid, the difference is from 8,500 to 7,500 per year in travel. Unaffordable and no accommodation can be made besides the 2 remote days we have.
Just curious how you came up with that number. If your commute is 110 per day, 3 days a week (hybrid) for 52 weeks a year that is 17,160 miles. If your vehicle gets 24 miles a gallon that’s 715 gallons. Worst case scenario let’s say fuel near you is 5 bucks a gallon. That’s 3575.
Echoing what was recommended - talk to your supervisor about hybrid opportunities and look into carpooling to cut down costs. Do your best to find a solution.
Yes, I drive 1.5 hr one way most days so I understand the concern but that’s the choice of me being in leadership. The best option has been suggested given your situation. Good luck
Find another place to work! Your career choice is hiring throughout many companies. It is clear the issue wasn’t performance, use that to your advantage and you can be permanent right from the start, including benefits with an employer that’s a better fit for your needs. WYTB!
The problem is that it can sometimes take a very long time to find somewhere else to work. Some people report looking for years, or still having to take a place that is farther from their home than they would like. It's not easy just to find another job.
55 miles is a long commute, but I suggest you hold on to that job until you secure another one. Good luck.
You complain about 55 miles and making 100k a year?
I've been there before. I support your decision to stay for the benefits, and l also recommend you to reconsider your career at this point. Explore possibilities of aligning your expertise with private sector and try to start with some remote work or pt roles to get a feel for this potential shift. If needed, I’m glad to offer some recommendations based on your experience.
