My new company has such stringent travel booking requirements. I have to take the absolute cheapest flight even if a faster, more convenient option is $5 more. It’s the same way with hotels. My leadership doesn’t mind if I spend more but our booking system is so restrictive. Have you found workarounds to book more reasonable travel accommodations?

Policies like these ruin the experience. What will they do if you book the flight?

like

They definitely do. Booking personally isn’t allowed and isn’t eligible for reimbursement, so unfortunately a high risk for having to pay out of pocket.

Request to book yourself and get reimbursed

I used to work at a place with software like that. We would find the flight we wanted in a commercial search engine and then back engineer a search in the official system that would turn up the desired flight as the cheapest flight by controlling timing etc.

We weren't wasting money, it was just impossible to explain to the system that what it thought was the cheapest flight on paper would require an expensive cab ride and/or another hotel night in real life.

It didn't do that with hotels, but you might be able to do something similar with distance or amenities needed?

like

That’s a good idea. I could at the very least play with the timing to try to force it.

My firm has applied for my L1A visa. If that gets denied, my plan is to travel to Canada and re enter US immediately on B1/B2 visa (already have valid B1/B2 stamp) so that I'll get time to figure out things here in the US (sell my stuff, handle my bank accts etc). Is it possible for me to reenter US on tourist visa?

Fellow P&T Directors - here’s a thread for us to discuss what we are hearing/not hearing with regards to PCLDE and the making of new partners in P&T.

On every call, we hear Joe talk about making new Partners and his commitment. I have yet to see any of those ‘commitments’ be reflected in actions or explanations. (eg. No senior directors from commercial GTM going into PCLDE this year …) What?

Do they really think we’re going to ‘stick around’ until they ‘figure it out’ …

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

Interested in how much others spend on food per month and what that breakdown looks like between at home or ordering out.

My husband and I have no kids and order/go out very rarely, maybe once a month, and our grocery bill for just the 2 of us has risen to around $750-$800 per month this year.

It's starting to feel very unreasonable to spend so much despite not wasting much. I do buy mostly produce but not always organic, and very little meat.
