Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

RSUs can feel like and anchor and a way companies entice you to stay. If the company’s values and culture don’t line up with yours anymore, time to move on regardless. I agree with the person that said it takes about 6 months to make a move. I recently went through the career change process and started passively looking in March and took a new role in September. The hiring process has shifted as well. It’s an employer’s market meaning you should gear up for several rounds of interviews, tailor your resume and examples for each role, sometimes you might be asked to do a case study presentation (depending on the type of role), and use your network to get you in the door. The days of submitting a LinkedIn application are over and everyone is using AI to craft the right resume to the job description so it makes it tougher for recruiters to screen. This is why companies are relying more and more on internal referrals so make sure you are leveraging your network strategically to help you. Good luck and think of it as a marathon vs a sprint.

With searches taking longer now, I'd start looking 6 months before you plan to leave. It's even possible it might take year, so maybe start looking in sooner.
Yeah, I know this is the right answer… I just don’t want to start 🥲😅
Totally get this. RSUs can feel like golden handcuffs. I’d start testing the waters soon just to see what’s out there — no harm in being prepared.
Start interviewing

A lot of times companies will give more RSU to keep people when they know they’re income dropping. Is that an option?
Unfortunately they have made it clear that no more RSUs will be issued (across the whole company). It really feels like they don’t care about retention

Totally agree. Definitely start a few months out with the current state of the market!

Honestly start looking the soonest you can/feel ready. Its a tough market out there, so the more time on your side the better. Even just start brushing off the resume
