Holiday weeks are tough with everyone out, so I wouldn't read anything into the delay. Also if they have found multiple people with the right skills to interview, they have an obligation to interview them, even if they love you, if nothing else but to give them some options.
Just because they want you doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be interviewing other candidates. What if you say no to their offer? What if you are only using their offer to get a counter? They would then need a plan B to move to.
Target medium clingy
Much like dating, don't come across as top clingy. Sometimes you gotta let them send you a message first.
All good points, makes me feel much better about my prospects.
The job. Got a call from recruiter a few hours later asking if I’d like to move forward, of course said yes. Discussed salary, I asked for a target number, she said she’d need more info from the hiring manager and shed get back to me. Didn’t hear for a while due to the thanksgiving holiday. Called today, she said they are wrapping up their interviews and should make a decision by Wednesday... did I scare them with my target salary? On their app they ask for a minimum required, and my target was only 10k more than that...
Just so confused by why they would interview other candidates (for a job they said is difficult to fill) rather than try negotiating salary with me (which I would’ve been very open to)
What threw me off is the director literally told me as he walked me out “we need to have some internal discussions but you’re in!” And the recruiter asked if I wanted to move forward, which to me signals I got the job and the negotiation would begin
Sometimes it can take them a week or two to finalize the offer
Update: I got the job!!! The salary I requested was higher than the role allowed, but negotiated a sign on bonus. So excited!!!!
