Where are you interviewing? Need to know if you’re my competition.
I had this happen recently. Agency was moving faster than the in house interviews. I emailed the in-house person who was handling the recruiting and said I’m far along with another place in the interview process but am much more interested in their role, how quickly are they hoping to make a decision. They moved up the interviews quickly. They likely know you have other interviews and would appreciate knowing if a candidate was about to drop out.
If you're okay working at either place—i.e. this is not a "bluff" situation—tell the "much better" second place that you have an offer & a day or two to think about it, but you REALLY want to work at their/the second place, but would need to know ASAP.
This is exactly how I secured my second job which was a huge step up. I let them know the offer and my timeline, and they moved things up FAST.
Guys I can’t thank you enough for the help! I am going to try like you said and hopefully will get what I want:)
Be completely honest and transparent with both companies. Let the first one know you have a final interview with the second company and let the second one know you have an offer on the table. It would be highly unusual for either company to back off. The first will be patient and the second will expedite. At least that’s how it was for me last time.
