wow... signon is 75K?? insane
Role / Rank? Moved from where to Amazon?
Never accept a counter offer
K3, did D match title too?
65k retention bonus? Hot damn.
Wow, personally I would take Deloitte’s offer (assuming you’re only required to stay for a year). Pretty good upsides - you’re at a firm for longer plus you’re getting ~100k more in a single year and most of that upfront.
That being said - I’d consider again why you were thinking of leaving, if you have a terrible manager or hate the work completely then all the money in the world won’t matter too much. So leave if it’s the right next step, or stay if there’s truly only real upsides to it.
FWIW - I’ve known plenty of folks who’ve taken counter offers and have still stayed there after years. Really depends on your relationship with the company and the team.
I agree with S1 in the end if you stick it out assuming for a year. You will exponentially increase your salary down the line and your sign on bonus. This includes your time at other companies of you decide to leave
Wtf do you all do. I’m getting half of that
This persons sign on bonus is 80% of my salary. Am I doing this wrong 🤣
Still more at the other firm. What level are you?
Trying to clarify if that’s HCOL/T1 cause that retention bonus seems crazy high!

Is 8k worth rebuilding your brand and network? If yes, go. If not, stay.
Personally, I wouldn’t leave for 8k and have to rebuild a bunch of stuff
Pro
SC3 this is an incredibly limiting line of thinking. Building a network is important everywhere, especially in industry where opportunities for exposure may not be as plentiful. I moved to industry from consulting and see a huge difference in success based on how much people network.
What is the recoupment period for each (the $75k vs the $65k retention)?
Then the question becomes do you want to leave for a $6k a year salary difference and a $5k difference in bonus? Is that worth it to rebuild your network (your level at the firm comes into play here)? Also, were you looking to leave because you wanted more money, or was there something you felt was missing/you didn’t like? Lastly, do you foresee any negative consequences in the future (will you be branded as a “flight risk”)?
All things for you to weigh in making your decision
Wow this is wonderful .. so suddenly you have become $36k more worth to firm overnight? If you can pls share the firm that gave offer - some of us might want to try out .. $36+$65k is a lot of cash to lose ..

I'm guessing of the companies you tagged for whatever reason, PwC isn't the one with the great offer...
Never accept a counter
Times are good right now in consulting as everyone is over sold and thanks to the rise of big tech/ RSUs there are mass exits/ nobody to actually do the work
At a certain point things will slow down right? Daddy D never forgets haha
I’m just saying you can take it…but the pace will slow down. If the other company offers more and you know there is more acceleration in career path and salary….if it’s an MBB don’t even doubt it and get out of Deloitte
Depends on the level honestly. I've used some offered to bump my salary with daddy d 3 times. Each time they got me close but never matched a market offer. However, they were all close enough for me to feel good in my stomach that I was good with that pay vs starting my support network over.
If you're sitting in a good spot with daddy d and you feel like that's a fair offer from them stay. If you're sure you're worth more and not worried about resetting your internal support network dip.
If the money isnt that big a deal you need to weigh the drive to the office or if you wfh. All the other stuff that would seem inconsequential compared to a large pay gap comes into play.
Just my 2 cents but it at least looks like D is trying to take care of you vs some of the other counter offers I've seen on here. No one here can tell you how your relationship is with your coach/pep/network. If you don't think they'll support you up to ppmd bounce for the cash and start building correctly.
@ Deloitte 5, for each of the 3 times you used another offer to raise your D offer, how did you present the information? Via email, by chatting, or what?
Hard to know specific relationships, but Deloitte is likely only giving you such a good counter because they are desperate right now. Doesn’t feel genuine and the second the market isn’t good again they will go back to being stingy with comp and you’ll be back in the same place interviewing/looking for a better opportunity. So I say jump!

Who cares why they do it?
And why assume the other place is any different? No one just showers money on people.
The most important question for me is where are you going. I am leaving for BCg and given I know their compensation increases are massive I am turning down a counter offer higher than yours. I will earn 340 first year at BCg
I’m going to Ops Practice. Base is 236, bonus 50 to 100k and signing of 50k…add to that free healthcare (no premium on your salary). Even if Deloitte matches I know next level is insane always above 300k

Remember one of the final scenes in Gladiator?
“Go to them.”
Classic Uncle D…match the offer by offering lower smh

The hell, nice bump OP
It’s difficult to rebuild network, brand, etc at a new firm. For 8k difference, I’d stay at D. But also have to weigh reputation of the other firm, new title, career goals and the other factors you haven’t specified here. Congrats on two great offers!
At M1, no it’s not. No sales targets - it’s just delivery and all your M years can do that when up for promotion in 2-3 years
If it’s not big 4 I would take the higher offer (183k)
Pro
I'd base on comparative career path. Money probably higher to stay with D given your annual bonus would be prorated at the new place.
Raise probably would be low until promo at either...
D might keep his raises lower than his peers as well, as he would be much higher in the M range.
