Need some advice. 24 years old and I’m currently contributing 6% towards 401k, 5% towards Accenture ESPP stock(at Accenture we receive a 15% discount when purchasing stock), and maxing my Roth. (Cont)

No you should diversify. That being said acn stock is doing pretty well and should continue to do so. I wish I’d invested more early on :(

like

You should definitely max 401k before investing in individual stocks. I’d also max out ESPP stock unless there is an individual stock that you think will give you more than 15% rate of return. That being said, can’t you invest in individual stocks in your Roth?

like

401k (traditional or Roth) has a massive advantage over a taxable account. You should absolutely max the tax advantaged space first before individual stocks

like

There are a couple individual stocks I want to start investing in. Should I hold off until I’m able to max my 401K and contribute more to the Accenture ESPP(we can contribute up to 10%)? Is that more important before I start putting money into stocks?

You can sell the espp the day you get it

How do you manage going back into public accounting as a first time mom? Our first kid is due this summer and I’ve been having conversations with my husband on plans for going back to work post-maternity leave. He is not in accounting and works ~35 hr weeks while I’ve been at 50-70 hr weeks (and enjoy my work). He is worried about my ability to be there for mom duties and also fully commit to work so curious on how other working moms have managed this - especially type A personalities. Thanks!

Either way, I'm curious if anyone would know why I only received 25 months of education benefits. I was 100% active for 4 years, 3 deployments to Iraq, honorable discharge etc. And wondering if there is any way to extend my benefits and get the 36-48 months that seems to be standard.

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
