Ok ladies, makeup. I've been told not wearing a full face of makeup is unprofessional. I always wear makeup (concealer, foundation, mascara) for work. Rarely wear makeup outside of work. Thoughts?

Female advisor here! I would say wear what makes you feel confident. Clients feed off our confidence. I personally like the “no make, make up” look but of course per occasion you can add some color . I also don’t wear make up unless I’m seeing clients or out being social! Works for me

Full makeup is excellent. Just no “Send in the Clowns” type

Wearing too much make up could be considered unprofessional. No makeup or light makeup is just fine. And of course dressing appropriately for your workplace—business casual or full suit. And personally, I am not a fan of platform or open toe shoes.

I hate to sound like a jerk but how much or how little make up you're able to pull off really depends on what you look like. If you're extremely pretty and young up with flawless skin maybe you can get away with only mascara but if you're anything short of runway model you probably will look better wearing more makeup than that. I do full-face because I feel my best when I know I look my best. Other women in the office look great with out any make up (or at least none visible to me!) and others look like they could use WAY more!

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

⚠️Toxicity Alert ⚠️

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

I wish I could tell my lead how much i like him.

PS: He's engaged.

Hi all,

My boss makes jokes about me being from a different country whenever there is a work meeting or a gathering with coworkers, even though he knows where I am from. This usually occurs when I meet new work-related people or for example if I am in a situation that involves ethnic related subjects.

What is this? This is normal?

Stereotyping?
Racism?

The first time I ignored that, but now it has become a pattern and is bothering me now. I am south-American working in the UK.

Hi all. I’m a new hire as an associate tech consultant, been here for ~2 weeks.

This week, I’ll be meeting my senior manager (who is also my counsellor) in a 1:1 virtual session. Any tips on specific questions I should ask? I’m meeting him for the first time and thought I might want to learn a lot from him!

Thanks :D

Inspired by one of my kids' favorite books, I penned this masterpiece of an Ode to Consulting:

One senior partner all alone
Calls two managing directors on the phone
Three associate partners at the door
Bring along another four
Five senior managers come overdressed
Six managers show up with a guest
Seven senior consultants arrive in a sack
Eight associates sneak in the back
Nine analysts come to work
ALL THE CONSULTANTS GO BERSERK!!!

Ok, I'll show myself out now... 😂

Wondering if anyone can share the approximate timeline after applying to Target Corp. to hearing something from them. Applied 9/1 and on the applicant portal the status still says “in progress.” I got a great internal referral, but I’ve not reached out to the hiring manager. 😬 I know there were a few hundred applicants — what’s a realistic timeline and what could I say to the hiring manager if I reach out to them. Many thanks.
