Okay moms, when are you visiting the grandparents again? We don't live in NYC so my parents think it's safe to visit my 3 year old, but I know they'll be hugging and picking her up if they see her.

We briefly visited my parents this weekend. We made very clear before we came that masks must be worn by all, we would start outside and keep our distance. It worked out fine. But I could see at 3 asking the child to keep their distance might be a challenge. And to add, If my parents were not on board with this plan, the visit would have been a no-go.

Thank you, that's very helpful and makes me feel better about what I asked them to do. My parents are part of the "we have to get back to normal" crowd and said they didn't want to wear masks around her and balked at my suggestion to meet at a park vs house. This made me feel like I wasnt out of line for standing my ground!

We are in NYS visiting great-grandparents (80s, thank God!) nearly every weekend. For one we stay in the backyard and she stays on the patio, we put a baby gate by the porch to prevent toddler from going up the steps. For the other we stay on opposite sides of the driveway and wear masks. It was harder to convince the younger grandparents (60s) to take things seriously but now they are or they know they’ll be asked to leave. We keep reminding them: we’re doing this for you. A lot of FaceTime calls too helped get used to the idea of socializing without touching. It’s not easy, family should be hugged, be safe and good luck!

Very helpful perspective! You're so right - the younger grandparents are the hardest ones to convince. But we are trying

Does anyone else feel depressed about being single? I ended a 5 year relationship last year and enjoyed my single life but now that I've started working at EY I see mostly everyone is either married or in long term relationships and they all seem really happy. It's really bumming me out but I don't have time to date or meet new people because when I'm not at work I'm studying for the CPA. I hate where my life is right now.

Desi folks , do you really regret your marriage ? What is that annoys you most ?

I had a break up and it was me who messed up. I blame myself all day and constantly have dreams of her. It’s been few months. I try to smile a lot or stay busy but randomly I cry out loud and burst into tears, I think I’m depressed. I also live alone don’t have a lot of friends and I’m 36. Can you please recommend a good therapist (I know you have to try multiple to find the right one)? And what else can I do to bring my self esteem up. Thank you

Anyone else struggling with hormones / mood swings? I am almost 16 weeks and been having a real tough time lately, feeling really down and stressed about things. Sadly, causing tension between me and my partner as well as he cannot relate and seems preoccupied with business as usual. Trying to get out the funk and just telling myself it’s all the hormones.

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. However he also revealed he started seeing someone casually 4 weeks ago and technically is cheating on her by meeting me for coffee and to discuss this. I’m upset that he’s dating others but shouldn’t be right? I mean, I did the same. Still hurts though. And I told him to sort that out

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.

I’m in the middle of moving by myself. I’m job hunting, because I lost my last one. My relationship has basically imploded. I sleep a lot on a fucked up schedule because I’m depressed but I can’t afford help, and I only get it when insomnia gives me a break. I’m so done and over all of this. I have so many heavy regrets. Idk how to carry all of this.

Does anyone ever question the possibility of going to law school?

I’m a 23yo female legal assistant working/living in Canada. I am completing my BA in hopes of continuing with law school after. But, I just turned 23 and I’m anxious about my love life and starting a family. I haven’t had a boyfriend since 2019 and I’ve poured my heart and soul into my education & career.

I’ve always wanted to go to law school since age 14. But I also want a husband/kids. I don’t feel like I can have both.

I’ve had to step away from social media for my own mental sanity as I have a major issue with comparing myself to peers when it comes to life stages. Any advice on staying away or including it in my life in healthy ways?

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent. I have a lot of sympathy for his situation … tbc

I made a mistake. I talked with the ex this morning. He said he misses me. And that while he walk talking to the other woman, he wished he was talking to me instead. And when he saw that I didn’t respond to his texts, he drank a shit ton. And then called this morning.

He’s not willing to commit to the other women because he’s not over me.

I need to block him.
