I doubt that it is, I think "magic hallway moments" is just a way for corporate America to soften return to office by making it seem like it's actually beneficial. I don't recall many magical moments in office either; I do remember a lot of time wasted smalltalking with over friendly colleagues.
The magic is they can turn your annual raise into a pizza party instead!
Almost 15 years in- my “magic hallway moments” are usually someone grabbing me to talk about something non-urgent when I’m late to a meeting.
I’d say on average maybe 5-10 times a year is there something that pops up or sparks something good. WFH that number jumped to 30 because people just shoot those to me in teams instead of waiting for me to zip by

I've never experienced anything magical in an office. Ever. The only magic was other women chatting and forming a clique which left me out because I did not subscribe to their ideas. It was worse than high school because it directly impacted my professional growth - I was not a "personality hire" and so those who were were promoted regardless of who was more qualified due to said clique. Commercial real estate investors just want us to continue needing them so they'll say anything to get us back in the hellscape that is the cubicle pod

Companies might be using it to sugarcoat the return to office, glossing over concerns about commute times, lack of flexibility, and well, the beige carpets. Don't fall for the corporate charm offensive!
