You said "has become" which implies it hasn't always been this way. You also said you're "attempting to perform both roles." I'm thinking the both roles is a new thing. Maybe it's not your work but your relationship with your boss that is the issue. I've noticed over the years that some attorneys are actually insecure in spite of achieving the law degree. He/she may feel like you're treading close to their territory. No advice here but hopefully an insight into what this really is.
It cracks me up when every response to a post is questions (though in fairness the OP was a little light on detail).
Sometimes with attorneys and paralegals you have to keep in mind we're trained to have an eye for detail and point out errors (the flip side of that of course being nitpicking our own work).
I've also seen corrections go overboard and that can be really hard to deal with. If the OP's situation is one where the errors or mistakes really boil down to "you're not doing the work exactly as I prefer it", they may be in a bit of a pickle. Good luck.
What 2 roles are you performing?
Legal Assistant & Paralegal
Is he really criticizing you or trying to tell you his preference on how he want to receive his work product?
And what makes these exchanges seem passive aggressive?
And then there is the attorney who lacks organizational skills, has absolutely little to no regard for attention to detail, criticizes the paralegals for being diligent, makes statements that they are “overthinking“ when they are just doing their job correctly. 🤦♀️
