Quitting big 4 to go to a small law firm with a bit of salary cut? Im a 1st year at a big 4 and i'm supposed to be doing tax work like exec-comp, IRC memos, and things of that nature. The economy is shit so i've been put on a lot of random projects that are not advancing my career. The law firm has no minimum billable requirement and the work is interesting: giving legal advice to small businesses on forming LLCs, small M&A transactions, researching security law matters. Thoughts on leaving??

I.e. going from managing creative projects like TV to managing website builds/UX projects. If so, what was the transition like and what helped you get your bearings in the new environment? I am in my second year as a attorney, I was a FL paralegal before law school and would eventually like to end up there again. I am in a very small rural area, pretty much only solos, and no FL solos appear to be hiring/expanding at this time.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

How to discuss higher salary based on change in expected work hours per week

I am a C3A (hence QVA is dependent on Unit's quarterly performance).

Last tech + managerial round was on 10th Nov. Got HR call on 17th Nov. Told my expected package and she didn't seem to have any issue. On 22nd Nov, got a call from the consultant at taggd who has been arranging all my interviews. Told my expected CTC and she seemed a bit surprised but didn't negotiate and asked if I have any other offers? I asked when can I expected the OL, she said within a week but didn't take any documents. Can I expect the OL?

I keep getting denied due to lack of experience but to even get the job I have now (case manager) the company knew one of my family members and they gave me a chance to interview because of that. For these remote companies where I don’t have connections how can I transition over?

Has anyone received equity as contingency comp? I have a potential client with a founders dispute. He doesn’t have cash, and the other founder ripped him off and is now running the company. He wants to sue for equity and wants to pay me with whatever equity he wins. I’ve never done a deal like that. Is that even enforceable? CA law. The startup is actually quite promising.

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Should I leave Deloitte for a move to a new city + a mid size firm job in a litigation practice area I’m not interested in, just for the sake of gaining law firm experience? (Been at big 4 one year graduated law school in 2021) or stay at Deloitte a little longer until I find a job in an area I actually want to learn about

I had a non traditional path out of law school because I graduated at the height of the Great Recession and my mother was seriously I’ll with cancer. I’ve worked for 2 big four firms in internal positions within compliance/regulatory for a total of 6+ years and am ready to make a move. What is my next best one? Is it totally impossible for me to go to a law firm?

Any thoughts/experiences on Big4 vs law firms? I started at Big4 straight out of law school. Not sure how easy or worth while it would be to transition to a law firm, at some point.
